In December 2024, I was formally diagnosed with ADHD. Was I shocked? Not at all. If you know me, you probably weren’t surprised either. But when I reflected on my 22-year career ‘struggle’ and the trauma that shaped my early life, it was a moment of deep validation.
(Ah, but don’t worry-this is not a trauma dump. Stay with me.)
A few years ago, I listened to Mel Robbins talk about her ADHD diagnosis, and suddenly, everything clicked. She described ADHD as a giant orchestra tuning up-but with no conductor to bring order to the chaos. She talked about having so many voices in your head at the same time.
Cue massive penny-drop moment. Because in that instant, I realized something wild: The coaching methodology I createdback in 2019-Deb!tch Your Brain-was literally built on the principle of inner voices running riot, getting in the way of a calm, happy life.
I actually stopped in my tracks and laughed. Well, more accurately, I stopped scrubbing a tap, walked off laughing, forgot I was cleaning, moved on to something shinier, left all the cupboards open, and-shock-never finished the chore. Spot any themes yet?
It was a joyous realization. Of course, I had built a coaching methodology that captured the essence of ADHD. Of course, this diagnosis made so much sense.
How EFT & Tapping Help My ADHD Brain
After years of struggling with these challenges, I discovered something that changed the game for me: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), aka tapping.
Tapping helps me regulate my nervous system, process overwhelm, and create new thought patterns. It allows me to slow down my racing thoughts and find moments of calm amidst the ADHD chaos. Now, as a Brighton-based confidence coach, I use EFT and mindset coaching to help neurodivergent clients-especially ADHDers-embrace their brilliance instead of fighting their brains.
ADHD & Confidence: Rewriting the Narrative
Confidence can feel elusive when you’re constantly battling distractions, forgetfulness, or impulsivity. But here’s the thing-confidence isn’t about being flawless; it’s about owning who you are, fully.
For me, learning about my ADHD helped me shift my mindset from “What’s wrong with me?” to “How can I work withmy brain, not against it?” And that’s exactly what I help my clients do.
If you have ADHD-or think you might-know this: You’re not broken. You’re just built differently. That can be a superpower.
